Traffic Data Collection

JMD Engineering provides traffic data collection services that include collecting twenty-four hour traffic counts, vehicle classification counts, vehicle speed counts and intersection turning movement counts. We utilize the latest electronic equipment available to collect traffic data as accurately as possible. The data is used to complete traffic studies including traffic impact studies, operational analysis studies, classification studies, travel time and delay studies.

Traffic Signal Warrant Studies

JMD Engineering provides the services necessary to conduct traffic signal warrant analysis on intersections where signalization is either currently or projected to be determined to improve the overall safety and efficiency. We utilize current and/or projected traffic volume data, pedestrian volume data and historical crash data to conduct the analysis. The data is compared to the traffic signal warrant information as contained in the latest edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) to determine if the intersection satisfies the warrants necessary for the installation of a traffic signal.

Traffic Simulation and Modeling

JMD Engineering utilizes the latest techniques and software available to conduct traffic simulation modeling and analyses. The latest versions of CORSIM and Synchro, as well as other traffic simulation models are used to analyze traffic flow characteristics on intersections, street networks, corridors, interchanges and highways. The analyses are used for the determination of optimum traffic signal timing for isolated signalized intersections and coordinated traffic signal systems. The analyses are also used to review existing geometric alignments or future geometric changes to intersections.

Traffic Impact Studies

JMD Engineering provides the services necessary to conduct traffic impact studies for new developments and existing sites to be redeveloped. We have experience in conducting traffic impact studies for large and small developments including commercial land uses, residential land uses, institutional (school) land uses and many combinations of mixed land use developments. Analyses will be conducted under current and projected future traffic conditions to determine the traffic impact the new development is expected to have on the adjacent street network. The resultant information is used to identify solutions to reduce or mitigate the impact of the proposed development.

Parking Studies

JMD Engineering can provide a wide range of parking studies and analysis of existing and future parking conditions. Parking Studies are conducted to collect the required information about the capacity and use of existing parking facilities and in addition, information about the demand for parking may be needed. Parking studies may be restricted to a particular traffic producer or attractor, such as a store, or they may encompass an entire region, such as a central business district. Traffic and Transportation Master Planning

JMD Engineering has the knowledge and experience to develop a transportation master plan. Information will be gathered including current traffic volume data, street geometric information, traffic control types, current land use and zoning information and future proposed land use and zoning information. The information will be reviewed to confirm current and/or projected street classifications. Summary reports and street maps will be prepared indicating the future transportation master plan including recommendations on major arterial street networks, traffic control improvements and land use zoning recommendations.
